How coal is priced in Pakistan
Two quotes for “Balochistan coal” can be thousands of rupees apart. Here is what actually moves the price of a tonne.

The coal field
Each field has its own heat, ash and sulphur. Chamalang and Sor Range sit at the top of the range; Mach and Harnai at the bottom; Duki in the middle.
The size
Lump costs most, run-of-mine (mixed sizes) less, and fines least. Kilns rarely need lump; boilers and furnaces often do.
Freight
Road freight from Quetta to Punjab adds roughly Rs 8,000 to 10,000 a tonne. Duki lump is about Rs 38,000 ex-Quetta and about Rs 47,000 delivered to Punjab.
Freight is charged per truck, so a larger truck lowers the cost per tonne.
Sales tax
Local coal carries sales tax of 18% or Rs 700 a tonne, whichever is higher. Check whether a quote includes it: ours are shown excluding tax.
The week
Supply from the mines, fuel prices and demand from kilns change the price week to week. That is why every price on this site is indicative and confirmed when you contact us.
